Finnish forum
A Finnish forum was recently held in Helsinki, covering Northern Trust’s latest activities since opening an office in the Nordics, its specialist Private Monitor® tool for monitoring investments in private equity, and the potential benefits of passive investing.
Presentations to an audience comprised mostly of pension fund executives were made by Northern Trust’s Madeline Senior - Managing Director of the Nordics, Alex Hingston - Consultant, and Jay Powell - Business Development Director and Index Solutions Specialist.
Nordic investment seminar
Northern Trust Global Investments (NTGI) hosted an investment seminar in early May at Arnoldshuset, Stockholm.
At the seminar, Wayne Bowers, Chief Executive Officicer of NTGI, presented his thoughts on emerging and potential post-crisis global mega-trends, whilst Jay Powell spoke on the topic of ‘redefining beta to generate alpha’, highlighting the advantages of passive index investing.
Luxembourg fund industry roadshow
Northern Trust was a sponsor of a UK roadshow held by the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry in London in early May.
The seminar discussed the opportunities that exist today in Luxembourg, with particular focus on how Luxembourg’s fund regime is well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of asset managers, particularly with the growth of the Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities (UCITS) brand.
Derivatives conference: trends and challenges to the buy-side
Derivatives have come increasingly under the spotlight in recent years, with calls for greater transparency, increased automation, more efficient trading and execution and higher regulatory standards.
Exploring these issues, Northern Trust hosted a successful day long conference in Chicago last month entitled Derivatives: trends and challenges to the buy-side, with participation from over 40 institutional investors, asset managers and consultants.
Fourth Annual Fund Forum Asia
Bert Rebelo, Northern Trust’s Director of Asia-Pacific Product Management and Strategy, was among the speakers at the Fourth Annual Fund Forum Asia, a four-day event held in Hong Kong during April.
Speaking on the subject of fiduciary management, Rebelo addressed an audience of chief executive officers, chief investment officers, investment experts and distributors at this major conference, which looked at some key investment principles in the post-crisis environment.
