Named 'Custodian of the Year' for UK pensions
Northern Trust was named 'Custodian of the Year' at Professional Pensions magazine’s UK Pensions Awards 2010, being chosen by a judging panel of professionals from across the occupational pensions industry.
The awards recognise providers that offer the highest level of service to occupational pension schemes and their members and Northern Trust came top of a shortlist that also included BNY Mellon, JP Morgan, KAS Bank and State Street.
Named Best Administrator for funds of hedge funds
HFMWeek magazine has named Northern Trust as 'Best Administrator Over US$30 billion Assets Under Administration – Funds of Hedge Funds'.
This is the second consecutive year that Northern Trust has been recognised with an HFMWeek fund of hedge funds administrator award in Europe.
Global custody and depositary mandate from KLP
Kommunal Landspensjonskasse (KLP), one of Norway’s largest life insurance companies, has selected Northern Trust and Handelsbanken to provide custody and depositary services for assets managed on behalf of its funds and insurance businesses.
Northern Trust and Handelsbanken were selected following a review to consolidate legacy custody relationships to a single provider.
Appointed by West Sussex Pension Fund
Northern Trust has been appointed to provide global custody and investment accounting services to approximately GBP£1.5 billion (US$2.23 billion) in pension fund assets for West Sussex Pension Fund, one of the largest pension funds in the UK.
The appointment underlines Northern Trust’s commitment to local government pension schemes, and follows a number of substantial mandates won in 2009.
Helping Vontobel launch a cross-border, tax-transparent pooled fund
Vontobel Asset Management, Inc. has announced the launch of an emerging markets equity fund for institutional investors located in multiple countries, with Northern Trust providing global custody, fund administration, investor-level tax services and management company services.
The Luxembourg-domiciled Fonds Commun de Placement established by Vontobel will provide a tax-transparent vehicle for investment in its global equity strategies by institutional investors in Europe and Asia.
